10 Random Things

Tracyecakes tagged me to write 10 Random Things About Myself. Boy, this is going to be hard. I just got done doing the 100 Things About Me my 100th post. Can I come up with 10 more?
Here it goes:

1. I have road rage. BADLY! If I am driving I am usually irritated by the time I get to my destination or by the time I get home.
2. Speaking of driving, I usually don't venture far away from home. I have about a 10 mile radius around my house that I usually don't leave. Its my comfort zone. Anything outside of it is too far to go.
3. I really like blimps. You know, the kind in the sky at football games. I am fascinated by them.
4. I wear contacts and I don't take them out at night when I sleep. What if something happens in the middle of the night and I cant see?
5. I scare very easily. My husband and brother love this about me. One day they will give me a heart attack.
6. I love the taste of bouillon cubes.
7. I really miss the show The Office. When is it coming back?? Dwight is the best!
8. I like to play solitaire on my cell phone.
9. I miss my sister bunches and bunches. She lives in Alaska and that is way toooo far away.
10. My favorite month is October. I love that the weather changes and you can smell fall in the air.

I am only going to tag Katie over at GreatLife-Happy2BMe . If anyone else wants to participate leave me a comment so I can check out your list!

Dinosaur World

Its that time of year again for the annual Mystery Trip ! ! Every spring my mother in law and father in law plan a special day trip for all of the grandkids. The location is always a surprise for the kids until they get there. I don't even get to know where they are going. Yesterday (Saturday) was the day! This year they went to Dinosaur World.

My wonderful in laws took all 5 grandkids to this cute little park. Yep, they even took the toddler. God bless them! The kids had a wonderful day seeing all of the dinosaurs. They even got to do "the big dig" where they sifted thru sand looking for fossils.

Of course there was a playground where I am told Katelyn kept up with all the big kids.

The kids came home with some dinosaur eggs and what I think are teeth. They had so much fun! Gavin had the best time telling me everything that he saw. And Katelyn? Well, she had a blast just being with everyone!

Progress Report

Gavin brought home his 2nd progress report from school yesterday. As a proud mom I am happy to report he is doing excellent. :) He is doing above what is expected at this time of year in all areas, which are : Reading and Language , Math, Social Studies, Science, and Health. Ever since Gavin missed almost 2 weeks with the pneumonia I have been worried about his schoolwork. That was alot of time for him to miss from school and then he had to play catch up. So not only have we been doing his nightly homework, I have been giving him something extra to work on also. Whew, guess it paid off! I am so proud of him and it makes me happy that he loves going to school. The teacher comments for Gavin were:

"Gavin continues to be a total delight to have in class! His is meeting reading and math expectations at this time and I am proud of his efforts. Thank you for all you are doing to help Gavin have such a positive experience in kindergarten."

Gavin has an excellent teacher this year and we both love her!

Keep up the good work Gavin!!!

Easter and Stuff

Overall, we had a wonderful Easter. Gavin loved everything that was in his Easter basket and said, This is the best day Ever! He did a great job at being a big brother with helping Katelyn find the Easter eggs hidden around the house. He thought the Easter Bunny was funny for hiding eggs in his shoes and behind couch cushions. And Katelyn couldn't get enough jelly beans or Skittles! We had a great Easter lunch at my MIL's and then came home for much needed naps.

Last night Gavin had another basketball game. His games are usually on Saturday mornings and last night was his only night game. I think Gavin had the biggest cheering section last night. Everyone came out to see Gavin play : Daddy, Grammie, Grampie, Grandma, Uncle Larry, Ryan, Chris, Aunt Tiff and her boyfriend. WOW!! It was a great competitive game to watch until the end of the 3rd quarter when Gavin got his first sports injury. He got tangled up in a couple of players and they all went falling down. Gavin landed VERY hard on his elbow and was taken out of the rest of the game :( The coach put ice on it and he spent the rest of the game on the sideline. His poor elbow is black and blue and had a huge knot on it. Thankfully it is moving around just fine and this morning Gavin told me it doesn't hurt at all! Great!
Have a wonderful week everyone!

3 Words

We spent some time today at the park with some friends and their children. The kids had a good time playing on the playground and feeding the turtles. My one friend has a son who is a couple of months older than Katelyn. After he would throw food to the turtles he would exclaim "I did it!!" It was very precious. I couldn't help but keep commenting on it. Katelyn is barely putting 2 words together. And I don't even know if she knows what the word "I" means. Oh well, I know every child is different.

So just now Katelyn walks up to me and points to her diaper and says " I ga poop". I checked her diaper and sure enough, there was poop. So, that is what she decides to say to me? She probably heard me complaining at the park and was like, I'll show her. Have some poop mom.

Egg Hunt

This past weekend we went to our church's Easter Egg Hunt/Picnic. Katelyn was so excited to see all of the colorful eggs. She did a great job picking them up and putting them into her basket. She got that tub filled about halfway ! ! Gavin got his tub filled almost to the top with all of the eggs he found. When Katelyn saw Gavin's filled tub, she wanted some for herself. She started taking eggs from Gavin's tub and putting them into hers. Gavin is such a wonderful big brother and just let her do it.

Now I really can't wait for Easter morning this year. Katelyn is going to have a blast looking for all of the Easter eggs around the house. And I am sure big brother will help her find them. Have a great weekend and a wonderful Easter everyone!

Hello Everyone ! ! Welcome to the Ultimate Blog Party hosted by You have reached my humble abode: Life With Two.

For anyone who doesn't know me, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Melissa and I am a SAHM to 2 wonderful children. Bye Bye High Chair

Katelyn's high chair is by the curb waiting for the garbage man. Yesterday we switched her to her booster seat at the table. She is very excited about this and laughs when we call her a big girl.

Back To School

Gavin is back at school as of yesterday. He had an ear infection and his asthma was acting up. So, antibiotic for the ear and breathing treatments 3 times a day. We haven't had to use the nebulizer in like 3 years. Gavin now holds the mask himself, no more wrestling around with a toddler to keep in on. But, he doesn't like it at all. He acts like he is going to have heart attack every time I tell him its time to do it. Basketball practice was cancelled Monday night due to the coach being sick and karate was cancelled last night due to sickness too. Something is-a goin-a-roun! Thankfully he is back to feeling better with just a little cough left over. Thanks for all of the get well wishes!

Katelyn and I had a great day at the park yesterday morning. She loves to run far away from me. We sat at the pond for a little while and she had fun throwing rocks in. We even threw in some goldfish for the little fish to eat.

And one of her favorite things to do now is draw on her magnadoodle. She could sit there for hours. She sometimes brings it to me to draw with her. She sets in on my lap very nicely, hands me the drawing pencil and says "cheese?" That's how she says please. Who could resist that? But there is a little devil hidden inside because no sooner do I draw her a picture than she grabs the pencil from me and yells "NO" and scribbles all over what I drew. She doesn't play very nicely!!

Wordless Wednesday - Park

Tuesday, March 11, 2008

Where to start? I feel like I haven't posted in a while! Gavin had his first basketball game this past Saturday. It was soo exciting to watch him in a real game. He did a great job with his passing and dribbling. Unfortunately, the team he played against was very good so they lost.
10-6. He has another game this Saturday so hopefully the kids on the opposite team will suck. Ha ha.

Let's see, what else? Gavin is home sick from school today. He has a horrible cough and is running a fever. I already broke the news to him that when Ken gets home from work this afternoon I am taking him to the doctor. I am in fear of strep throat.

Katelyn still has her runny yucky nose. But I think she feels ok. Hopefully she doesn't catch whatever the heck Gavin has.

How Can I Not

Buy This:

I mean really people.. Is this just the cutest darn picture you ever saw? I know, I know, of course I think that, he's my kid. Ha Ha. Gavin came home with these pictures yesterday from school. Stupid LifeTouch people came in and took all these cute pictures of Gavin and now I cannot resist writing the check to buy them all. Yep, they sent home the portrait package for me to preview and if I don't want them I just send them back. Send them back??? Are they crazy?? Nope, they are not crazy, that's how they make their money. Having you fall in love with the pictures with no hope of sending them back. So, I am buying these. And I also cannot bear the thought of Gavin going into a shredder!?!?

Gavin's spring break is coming up next month. I just got done making reservations for us to stay at the beach for a couple of days. I am really excited about taking the kids there. Gavin
loves staying in hotels. He acts like they are some kind of magical place and he always call them our new house. And the pool is heated! So its off to find the kids bathing suits for this year.

Poor little Katelyn woke up this morning cranky, snotty, and stuffed up. Poor thing is just miserable. She just wants to cuddle with mommy, which is just fine with me :)

You Learn Fast....

when poop goes flying. When I am changing Katelyn's diaper now she likes to reach under her toosh and grab the dirty diaper. Yep, that has sent poop balls flying only once. Once was enough for me to learn how to be faster than her in getting rid of the dirty diaper. And she laughs. A very evil little laugh too.
