Strawberry Shortcake

Does that look yummy or what? The kids and I had a wonderful dessert last night ~ Strawberry Shortcake. Everyone helped in the kitchen to prepare their own plate. Gavin liked his with strawberries piled high and whipped cream all over. Danyelle liked her whipped cream on the side so she could dip the strawberries in. And Katelyn liked it any way we gave it to her.

And after all of the shortcake was gone, the kids cut up the remaining strawberries and dipped them in sugar and whipped cream. Yummy.

Did you know that 1 serving of strawberries contains more vitamin C than 1 orange? And, strawberries contain no fat or cholesterol and are high in fiber.
Strawberries may help reduce the risk of heart disease, fight some types of cancer and lower blood pressure. Not bad for a little red berry!

I was so excited to get strawberries at the farmer's market the other day and make strawberry shortcake with the boys. One of them spit out the first bite and ran away and the other just ate the whipped cream and declared himself finished. I guess that just makes more for hubby and me.
