Not Eating

Well, Gavin has not been eating his lunch at school this week. Since he brings his trash home in his lunchbox I can see what he ate. Usually it irritates the heck out of that he brings the trash home, but this week I was glad he did. He only took one or two bites out of his sandwhich and barely touched the snacks I packed for him. Every day I would say, "Gavin, why didn't you eat your lunch?" And he would shrug his shoulders and give the standard " I Dont Know." response.

Yesterday was the 4th day in a row that it happened. I knew that I had to get to the bottom of this because I had images of my poor kid starving by the afternoon at school. Our conversation went like this:

Me: Why didnt you eat your lunch again?
Gavin: I dont know
Me: Gavin, you have to tell me. Why arent you eating?
Gavin: I am too busy talking to my friends to eat. Lunch is the only time I can talk to them and I have ALOT to say!!

So, after I got done laughing-- because he was so totally serious in his response-- I let him know that he HAS to eat his lunch. I told him all about how eating a good lunch makes you better in school, helps you pay attention to the teacher, and helps you learn things.

Gavin's response? He laughed and said " Oh mommy, I already know everything. I dont need to learn anything else this year, I learned it all."

Oh really? And I just cant help laughing when he says stuff like that.

It sounds like our sons would get along great. My Cody would totally say the same thing.

Wow! He's a fast learner! At this rate he'll be graduating from college by age 15! Lol!

Tee hee...his comments are SO cute! ;) Hopefully he'll be able to stop talking for a second or two and eat his lunch though. :) When I read about this kind of stuff, it makes me wonder what comments my son will be coming to me with in a few years!

So funny! The best part is that he totally believes what he is saying... At least he's confident! :)

That is too cute. That is one of my major concerns when Logan starts school next year. At home all he wants to do is talk when it is time to eat, so I can imagine it will be the same at school!!
