I cleaned my room today. I sooo want my room to be a relaxing soothing place. HA ! Not with kids. They are always in here. The playstation is in here, so Ken and Gavin play alot. We spend alot of family time with the kids in our bed watching tv. Which is a good thing, I am not complaining about that. But, let me show you what I am complaining about:

These guys:

All these lovely friends where picked up throughout my room. Spongebob, Patrick, Spiderman, a Power Ranger, pink cell phone, 1 sandal, 1 cleat, and misc stuff. No matter how many times I say : No toys in mommy's room, it all trickles in. But never trickles out unless I do it. Oh well. I will savor my clean bedroom until tonight when maybe some Disney toys will make their appearance.

Sleepover !

The evening could not come fast enough tonight for Gavin. His bestest buddy Austin was coming over to spend the night. Yippee! Once his friend got here they played the wii all night. Austin even told Ken that him and Gavin were going to stay up ALL NIGHT talking and playing the wii. The two little cuties are in bed as I am typing this, and I will probably have to go in and tell them to stop talking and go to sleep. My gosh, I am such a MOM. I can still remember my mom coming in to my sleepovers to tell us to be quiet and go to sleep!!

Is It A Quarter?

If ever there was a time that I needed patience, it was last night with Gavin's homework. He had to look at a penny, dime, and nickel and tell me which was which and how much they were worth.

So in front of us we had all three coins. I think I did a pretty good job explaining the differences between them and how much they were worth. I show him the penny and ask what it is. His answer was a quarter. I told him we were only working with the penny, nickel, and dime. No quarters. He nods his head ok. We go thru a couple of rounds of questioning and he got the right answeres about 50% of the time.

The other 50% of the time he got the answer wrong was because he would guess that the coin was a quarter.
Me: Gavin, what is this one?
Gavin: A quarter?
Me: No, we are not using quarters
Gavin: A nickel?
Me: YES- What is this one?
Gavin: A quarter?
Me: NO! Quarter will NEVER be the answer- what is this?
Gavin: A penny?
Me: Yes. What about this one?
Gavin: ( with a happy smile on his face) Oh, this one has to be the quarter mommy!!
Me: No no no! Only dimes, pennies and nickels!
Gavin: Ok, then its a dime.

My god, this went on forever ! ! Not just once, but about 5 rounds that is how our conversation went. He just did not get it that we were not learning about quarters. But I have to smile about it now, because he was just soo darn happy to say it was a quarter. Like he was hoping that one time the answer would be Yes, its a quarter. So Gavin was smiling and happy and I was banging my head on the table. I hope tonights homework we learn about the quarter!

Weekend Recap

Friday night we surprised Gavin and Danyelle and took them up to the fun center. A HUGE place filled with arcade games. Skee ball, pinball machines, and of course all those fun games to win tickets. Those are my favorites. The more tickets I get, the happier I am! Ken enjoys the classic arcade games.
Gavin and Danyelle had a great time going from game to game and totaled about 600 tickets between them. Gavin turned his in for a blow up Wolverine and Danyelle got 2 pixie sticks and a blow up Patrick from Spongebob.

Saturday morning we had to sign Gavin up for basketball. He is now all registered and I am just waiting to hear what team he is on and when practices are. He is very excited and cannot wait to start.

Saturday evening we dropped all 3 kids off at my in laws to spend the night. This was Katelyn's first ever sleep over. So, lets do the math: this was also me and Ken's first evening alone in a year and a half! Much needed time I might add!! Anyway, Katelyn did wonderful for her first sleep over at Grammies. They had dinner and then went to DQ for ice cream. Then at bedtime, Katelyn wouldnt go to sleep in her pack and play, so she slept in between Danyelle and Grammie. Gavin slept on the floor next to the bed.

Sunday when I got over to my MIL for lunch I was so excited to see the kids. Were the kids excited to see me? Nope! My precious little baby girl could have cared less that I was there. She glanced at me when I walked in and then kept on playing. So I made Gavin come over and hug me tight!

Since there is no school today Danyelle and her friend Alexis went to work with Ken. And Katelyn is enjoying another day that Gavin is home with her.
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Fashion

Now, let me say, Gavin has at least 5 pairs of sunglasses. Spiderman, Superman, and a couple of different colored ones. And Katelyn picked the red pair. Obviously to color coordinate the glasses and her shirt. Already a fashion diva!! Ha Ha

He Does Listen

Just when I think that everything I say to Gavin goes in one ear and out the other, I hear this:

Last night Gavin and Ken were in the bedroom playing playstation. I was in the kitchen. I hear Ken say: Oh man, I hate this team.

Then Gavin says in a very shocked voice- Daddy, you're not supposed to say Hate! Its a bad word.

Ken says- Why is it a bad word?

Gavin says: Because God doesn't like it. You should say- I dont like, that would make God happy.

Not Eating

Well, Gavin has not been eating his lunch at school this week. Since he brings his trash home in his lunchbox I can see what he ate. Usually it irritates the heck out of that he brings the trash home, but this week I was glad he did. He only took one or two bites out of his sandwhich and barely touched the snacks I packed for him. Every day I would say, "Gavin, why didn't you eat your lunch?" And he would shrug his shoulders and give the standard " I Dont Know." response.

Yesterday was the 4th day in a row that it happened. I knew that I had to get to the bottom of this because I had images of my poor kid starving by the afternoon at school. Our conversation went like this:

Me: Why didnt you eat your lunch again?
Gavin: I dont know
Me: Gavin, you have to tell me. Why arent you eating?
Gavin: I am too busy talking to my friends to eat. Lunch is the only time I can talk to them and I have ALOT to say!!

So, after I got done laughing-- because he was so totally serious in his response-- I let him know that he HAS to eat his lunch. I told him all about how eating a good lunch makes you better in school, helps you pay attention to the teacher, and helps you learn things.

Gavin's response? He laughed and said " Oh mommy, I already know everything. I dont need to learn anything else this year, I learned it all."

Oh really? And I just cant help laughing when he says stuff like that.

Car Line

It was a big day today. Gavin went thru the car line at school this morning. It's a big deal, because since he started school I have been parking and walking him into school to his class. I also park in the afternoon and go in and get him when school is out. Yes, every day I get the stroller out of the back of the car, put Katelyn in, get to Gavin's class, wait for the bell to ring, then walk back to the car. Same thing in the afternoon.

And I really havent minded it. Especially when school first started. I was honestly being an overprotective mommy. There was no way that I was dropping my baby boy off in the front of a new school to walk to his classroom all by himself!!! No no no! What if he got lost? Would he make it to his class? So many crazy thoughts went thru my head.

But now the school year is half over. I guess by now he should know where is classroom is, right? I mean, the kid is there 5 days a week for 6 hours. I assume he goes to places like the library, cafeteria, and the bathroom. So maybe he wouldnt get lost if I dropped him off in the morning. So, I brought up the subject of the car line last week and he was NOT happy about it.
"But mommy, you always walk me to my class!!" He said this in the cutest little boy voice ever!

I gave it a couple of days to sink in before I let him know last night that today would be the day. And he was alright with it. So off we set thru the car line. Luckily, his teacher was the head of the car line today and she helped him out of the car. And his friend Jimmy was in the car behind us so they walked in together. When I picked him up this afternoon, he told me he wants to do the car line every morning. Yippee for me. No more lugging out the stroller and Katelyn every morning. And my total time to school and home is like 8 minutes. Another yippee for me.

But, a little part of me was of course sad. Another moment in Gavin's life where I see that he is not so little anymore.

Last Game

Yesterday was Gavin's last TBall game for the season. It was such a beautiful day to be outside. The sun was shining, there was a great breeze, and the temps were in the mid 70's. Great weather to watch a game. For their last game they played the Dodgers. Gavin's friend Jimmy from school is on that team. Gavin played first base, catcher, and shortstop. He also scored 2 runs. I recorded the game too. So as soon when I figure out how to post videos online, I will put up some plays. Gavin was excited at the end of the game too when his coach gave him the game ball for a job well done. Yeah!! He also got a medal with his name engraved on it.

This past season Gavin has been so happy playing this sport! I am so proud to watch him do such a good job and really get into it. In the middle of March basketball season starts. Since Gavin loves every single sport there is I went ahead and signed him up for basketball. How cute is that gonna be??

100 Day Celebration

Today is the 100th day of school for Gavin. The whole school is participating in a big celebration. Gavin's class is having a party and special snacks. Gavin has been so excited about this all week and was super excited to go to school today. He also had a special homework assignment this week. He ( we ) had to do a collection of "100 Things ". After some thinking Gavin chose Skittles, this households favorite candy. Gavin counted out the 100 Skittles and colored in the letters on the paper. I hot glued them on and we were good to go. Gavin and I were both pretty happy with the finished product!!
