Gavin's Hair

One morning before Christmas break Gavin asked me if I knew what a spike was. This was while he was getting ready for school so I assumed he was talking about his hair. I told him I knew what it was and he then wanted me to do it to his hair. The whole time I was laughing to myself thinking , my gosh, he is only 5 and he already wants a "hairdo". When we got to school that morning his friends came running and gave him high fives to celebrate his "spike". All of them had spiky hairdos.

Christmas break is now over. Gavin's first day back was today. This morning I asked him if he wanted a spike and he said " Do you know how to do a smooth?"

A smooth? What the heck is that? He showed me by taking his hands and running them up the sides of his head to a point. My god- the child wanted a Mohawk. So, yep, I gave him one. Not with the shaved sides Mr. T style, but just gelled up going down the middle of his head. And I have to say, he looked pretty darn cute. When we got to school this morning and his friends greeted him, I noticed 2 of the other boys had Mohawks too. Did they have some kind of weird esp thing over Christmas break?

Ha ha! So cute! I tried to do that to my son's hair once, but it just fell right out. I'm thinking back to the eighties, and I think....egg white? is supposed to make it hold.
